Oil Well Pump

These wellheads, or "donkeys," are scattered around the part of Southern Illinois where I grew up. Many have dried up and the pumps are just rusting away, many went idle when the price of imported crude plummeted, but many are still producing. This is a closeup of the crank that runs the overhead rocker arm that moves the pump rod up and down in the well shaft. Olympus E-M5, Panasonic 20/1.7
